ELVIS DISCOGRAPHY (1959)
A TOUCH OF GOLD VOL.1
Information
Elvis had made a recording session in June 1958 in Nashville, but it was insufficient since they only had material to dose it in singles, not being able (as RCA would have wished) to make an LP of new songs. Faced with this situation, it was decided to publish old material again, with the main purpose of keeping Elvis' name alive in the face of the avalanche of new talents that appeared on the music scene at the end of the 50s.
"A Touch Of Gold" contained three "Recent" hit songs along with another song recorded on the Sun label.
Commercially this release did not enter the charts, but it sold a not inconsiderable figure that was close to 150,000 copies.
