ELVIS BIOGRAPHY (1964-1967)
EPISODE 6
To promote the movie Tickle Me, Col. Tom Parker convinced RCA to purchase Elvis's 1960 Cadillac with gold trim inside.
The song, "Such And Easy Question" from the 1962 sessions and released on that same year's LP, Pot Luck, peaks at #11 on the charts. It is decided to publish already edited material instead of recording new songs according to the new times that run.
On June 24, 1965, Elvis makes a $50,000 donation to the Motion Picture Relief Fund, reportedly the organization's largest donation to date. The acceptance of the organization was carried out by Barbara Stanwyck and Frank Sinatra. "Tickle Me" opens nationally on July 7, 1965.
Although the film fails to break into the mainstream box office, it quickly recoups production costs (which had been slashed at the time) and saves Allied Artists from financial ruin. Despite the low quality of the latest Elvis movies, his popularity does not decrease, managing to remain one of the highest-grossing actors.
