ELVIS BIOGRAPHY (1964-1967)

ELVIS DECIDES TO GO BACK TO HIS ORIGINS
NEW STARTING POINT, HOW GREAT THOU ART

"Frankie and Johnny" opens nationally on March 30, 1966 and not exactly with good reviews. The film's soundtrack doesn't even reach the Top 10, ranking #20.

Elvis meets his new producer, Felton Jarvis, on May 25, 1966 and they begin to work on what will be his new gospel album "How Great Thou Art". The last time Elvis set foot in a recording studio to record songs not related to soundtracks, dates back to early 1964 (recording in Nashville of the songs Ask MeMemphis TennesseeIt's Hurts Me). Elvis in these sessions is especially excited to work with one of his mentors Jake Hess and his group The Imperials.

On his return to routine, on September 6, 1966, Elvis recorded the soundtrack and filming of "Double Trouble" began. The film "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" premiered on July 6, 1966. By the end of the year will rank at #40 on the charts, the soundtrack ranks at #15 while the single "Love Letters" (from the sessions for the How Great Thou Art album) peaks at #19 on the charts. ready.
