It's obvious from these early takes, that Elvis wanted to start the song with different lyrics than Bill Haley's.
And Elvis uses the suggestive lyrics in take 8:
"...I'm like a one-eyed cat peeping in a seafood store, well, I can look at you and tell you ain't no child no more"
"...you wear those dresses...sun comes shining thru"
