Mike Windgren (Elvis Presley) is a former trapeze artist who lives traumatized by a circus accident that occurred some time ago, which causes him to fear heights. Recently arrived in Acapulco, he starts working in a hotel as a singer. To overcome his phobia, he decides to also work as a pool lifeguard.
There he will meet two women who will fight for his love, the spectacular Marguerita Dauphin (Ursula Andress) and the female bullfighter Dolores Gómez (Elsa Cárdenas).
Richard Thorpe returns to direct Elvis after the success of Jailhouse Rock (1957) now in a film that places the king of rock no less than Acapulco. With a soundtrack with a Latin flavor, it has one of its greatest attractions in the figure of the Swiss sex symbol and first "Bond girl" Ursula Andress who had become known worldwide in her famous bikini appearance in 007 against Dr. No (1962).
